Stacey Lewis, LPC

Owner
Licensed Professional Counselor

Opening my own private practice has been a life-long dream of mine. Even in high school, I remember knowing I wanted to be a child psychologist. While I didn’t exactly know all that it would entail, I knew I wanted to work with children who were hurting. I went on to get my bachelor’s degree in Psychology from a small, private Christian University called Harding. After graduation, I worked for various counseling agencies, always with the dream of opening my own practice. Of course, life has a way of interrupting plans.
The moment I held my first child, I decided to put my professional dreams on hold. It was love at first sight with my son, and I wanted to be a stay-at-home mom in the biggest way. My husband and I ended up having three awesome boys, and I was home with them for 13 years.

During the 13th year, however, my desire grew to get back into counseling. I went back to school at Liberty University and completed my MA in professional counseling. During this time I worked for several counseling agencies with the goal of becoming licensed and setting up a practice.  Eventually both of these dreams came true. I feel so blessed!

My heart began stirring for Seeds of Hope back in 2016 while I was working as a school counselor.  I realized many kids had lots of emotional needs that were not being met.  I noticed a need for more counseling agencies specialized in creative therapies designed uniquely for kids & teens.  I began brainstorming ways I could help with that in the community I lived in.  In 2017, I opened Seeds of Hope and began seeing clients in my home office. My clientele steadily grew to the point in which my family wanted me out of the house.  They gave me the push I needed to find a new location. I am so thankful they did!  Exactly a year later in 2018, I opened up a new office in downtown Shrewsbury, PA.  It was a perfect, cute little place for the time.  I quickly saw the need, however, to hire another therapist to help with the growing demand of clients.  God instead supplied me with two amazing therapists and when both of them were booked our little space became too little.  Even though I wasn't quite ready to move on, God pushed me forward by opening up a bigger space right next door exactly another year later in 2019.  I am so thankful the Lord guided me to this equally adorable and again perfect destination! I have no doubt it was His plan all along!  Our team at Seeds continues to grow!  We began by offering child therapy, but expanded in 2020 to offer therapies for everyone in the family. Our mission has grown bigger and we are continually looking for Gods direction.

My counseling philosophy is one that works on the heart.  I believe everything flows from this deeper place.  In order to grow or change anything, we must work here.  Instead of working directly on behaviors, I believe in working underneath them.  Ultimately, if we change the heart- behaviors will change too.  I usually explain this by using the analogy of an apple.  Our behaviors, feelings & thoughts are the outside peel and they are only as good as the seeds or core within them.  When working with kids & teens, my goal is to get down to the core, figure out what is going on there and plant positive seeds.  This is one of the main reasons I named our practice Seeds of Hope!

Throughout my career, I have learned play therapy is the best therapy for children & teens.  Kids have fun but that fun is fruitful.  Children communicate best through play- it is their language.  Getting on their level helps us better help them!  Our goal is to give them a safe place to be authentic, to find trust and genuine care. They also learn so much with this hands on approach.  They learn about themselves & others, how to communicate more effectively, control their emotion, share and problem solve.  I believe as their therapist, I have the best job of all! Each session is an adventure of growth, learning and self-discovery mixed with really fun activities and cool toys. You couldn't pay me to do anything else!

Katrina Spencer, MA

Child & Family Therapist

I always knew my calling in life was working with people, especially children.  There is nothing more significant to me than walking alongside children as they become the best versions of themselves – the unique and beautiful people God created them to be.
With this passion planted in my heart, I earned a BA in Psychology from Muhlenberg College in Allentown, PA and a MA in Clinical Psychology from Loyola University Maryland in Baltimore.  I also spent a glorious semester studying abroad in London, England as part of Higher Education in Europe.
My many years of experience working with children and families has encompassed a number of different settings: residential treatment center, treatment foster care, and a group home setting for males coming out of the juvenile justice system.  I have also provided crisis counseling for women and children in domestic violence situations.

For the past six years, I have home schooled my own two children.  This has been a blessing to them as well as to me.  I have loved being a part of their educational journey and fueling their desire to learn and grow!
When not working or teaching, I enjoy spending time exploring and adventuring with my family, soaking up God’s glorious creation, and reading and learning as much as I can about this amazing world and its diverse people. I look forward to working with each family and child God brings my way here at Seeds of Hope!

Lindsay Amspacher,
 MT-BC

Music Therapist

I am so excited for the opportunity to bring music therapy to the kiddos, teens, and families at Seed of Hope! I have been a board-certified music therapist for about 3 years, working with a variety of individuals including children and young adults, foster youth, substance use rehabilitation, and older adults. Music therapy fuels my soul, and I feel inspired by my clients each day. I love working with my clients to reach their fullest potential, embrace their abilities, and grow into the individuals God created them to be.

I received my degree in Music Therapy at Elizabethtown College, with a minor in psychology. From there, I went to Missouri to complete a six month internship through Easterseals Midwest Autism Services. I passed my board certification exam in January of 2019 and have been working as an independent contractor for two local businesses ever since. During this time, I grew in my abilities professionally, clinically, and personally. I knew God was calling me to help others through my gift of music. My “job” doesn’t feel like work at all, which is such a blessing!

So what is music therapy? Music therapy is the individualized and evidence-based use of music interventions to address social, emotional, developmental, communication, and cognitive goals with a wide variety of ages and diagnoses. Music therapy utilizes the elements of music, such as rhythm, melody, and tempo to activate different areas of the brain involved in learning and speech. Music therapy focuses on the relationship between the client, therapist, and the music itself to address goals.

Carla Chambers, LPC, M. Ed
Marriage Counselor

I share life with Greg, my husband of 39 years. We live in Stewartstown and are blessed with 3 lovely daughters, their men and 5 precious grandchildren.  Life is rich and fun with a lot of family time and laughter.  As I step into Seeds of Hope as a marriage counselor, I am excited for the families that will be affected. I am confident that honest, healthy marriages are wanted and I experience such joy in sharing perspective with others as they navigate relationship. It is exciting to be involved with others here at SOH working to support and walk with families as needed.

I have enjoyed various opportunities to counsel upon receiving my degree from Loyola University in Maryland.  God has been so faithful, allowing growth in my personal walk which affected my career choices as well.  I worked in the Red Lion school district for 13 years as a liaison for struggling students and alternative education choices.  I spent a year in a private school setting and worked through a grant, again providing direction for the at-risk youth.  I was in private practice for several years and am now providing counselors and families supervision through House of Hope. Each decision was bathed in prayer and obedience. As God leads, I choose to follow trusting Him for His perfect timing.

Ps 147:11 The Lord delights in those who revere Him, who put their HOPE in His unfailing love.

Bethany Lippy, MATS
Teen & Family Therapist

My husband and I have been married for nineteen years and together we have two boys ages 15 and 12. Both of our boy’s love sports, so I spend a good amount of my time cheering them on from the sidelines; however, when I get a chance, I love to run and read.

My Faith has always been a foundational part of my life and it has made me the counselor I am today. I am excited to be working at Seeds of Hope where I can share this with the people I love the most- our teens!  Teens have always held a special place in my heart.
I hold a Bachelor of Science in Biblical Studies and Psychology and a Master of Arts in Theological Studies. Throughout my time in youth ministry, women’s ministry, and seminary, I have had the opportunity to provide pastoral shepherding and counseling to women, parents, and students in various stages of spiritual growth and seasons of life. Over the years I have learned that being a teen is one of the hardest stages of life!  Especially in today's world, teens have so many challenges to overcome.  My goal in working with teens is to help them realize their God-given gifts and uniqueness, to understand who they truly are and to appreciate the way they have been created. I want to plant within them seeds of encouragement to reach for their goals and live joyfully.

Do not grieve, for the JOY of the LORD is your strength. Nehemiah 8:10

Krista Brady, MA,
Child & Family Therapist

Growing up I constantly had friends and family who would talk to me about mostly anything, and always told me they felt comfortable and at ease sharing their stories with me. This encouraged me to pursue a life of listening, and believing in others to reach their highest potential. I attended Shippensburg University, and earned my Bachelor of Arts in Psychology. After this, I attended Immaculata University, outside of Philadelphia, earning my Master of Arts in Counseling Psychology.

I have worked in an outpatient setting, wraparound therapy services and mobile therapy. All of these settings allowed me to develop my skills and provide meaningful therapy to every child that I have been blessed to interact with along my path. Being able to reach just one child is truly a gift, and I am excited to continue my work with Seeds of Hope!

I have always been a creative and artistic individual, and I run my own small business, Posh Pots, in which I create custom home decor. Being able to mix my creative/artistic side in my therapeutic work is a dream come true! In my free time I enjoy reading, traveling, and being outside in nature. My husband and I have three rescue pups, and when we're not fighting with them for a spot on the couch you can find us checking out a new hiking trail!

Whatever path you currently find yourself or your child on, I would be honored to walk alongside you and God on this journey. "There is always light. If only we're brave enough to see it. If only we're brave enough to be it."

Liz Reihm, MA, MCLC, CPT, NWC
Teen & Family Therapist

Hi! I’m Liz, a professional counselor, board certified life coach, personal trainer, nutrition consultant, and champion of women! I am a wife to a wonderful man and stepmom to two beautiful, intelligent, and awesome teenage girls. A few of my favorite activities include running, traveling, and reading a good book! I love God and seek his help and grace every single day, knowing He is the source of power that allows me to be who he created me to be and help empower others to do the same.

When counseling others, I believe in a whole-body wellness approach that recognizes the need for balance in all areas of our lives- physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual. While earning my master’s degree in counseling, I spent six years speaking, teaching, and counseling abroad in Australia, Africa, Thailand, India, and South America. After returning home over 10 years ago, I began working with women of all ages and backgrounds to help them discover their dreams, improve their health, address obstacles and concerns, and create fulfilling lives. The increase in adolescent and teenager clients in the recent years has been an exciting and challenging addition to my work! Walking alongside a young person as they discover their identity and gain self-confidence in who they are is one of the best parts of my role as a counselor.

I use a diverse and eclectic approach in my work with each client, understanding every person is unique. Whether a young adolescent struggling with their identity or a woman navigating a new season of life, I believe everyone can find wholeness and peace! My training and experience in addressing mental health and physical health concerns afford us the opportunity to address all areas of your life as needed. I am passionate about each person discovering their true worth! It is a great joy and honor of mine to journey alongside someone as they find freedom and become empowered in who they are.

Admittedly, I am a work in progress and believe it is my own unique blend of experience and training, mixed with a huge dose of God’s grace, which has led me to successfully assist women of all ages to find freedom and create healthy lives. I truly believe that no matter who you are, what you have done, or where life has brought you, you can be healthy, empowered, and redeemed. As a counselor and wellness coach, my goal for each client is to discover their definition of wellness and learn to celebrate their uniqueness and beauty! I absolutely love what I do and feel so honored to have the opportunity each day to help others live purposeful and fulfilling lives.

Ashley Hushon, M.S., CCC/SLP
Speech & Language Pathologist

I married the ying to my yang 3 years ago, Timmy.  He has encouraged me to explore every dream that comes across my crazy brain and I have him to thank for the best parts of my story thus far.  Together we have two baby girls, Autumn Ash and Rhea Jo and our rescue pup Dierks.  We have settled down in Stewartstown between our two (rival) high school alma maters, Susquehannock and Kennard Dale.

In 2015, I earned a Masters in Science in Speech, Language and Hearing Sciences from La Salle University while captaining their division one Women's soccer program.
I was blessed with clinical experiences that shaped the clinician I am today within numerous schools as well as the Rehabilitation unit of Abington Memorial Hospital. After spending 5 years in Philadelphia, I returned home to begin my career. After 7 years of being an SLP, I have serviced brick and mortar schools, cyber schools, and private clients ages 1 to 18 years with a variety of diagnoses. My early career began in low-socioeconomic school districts which kick-started my interest in helping in all areas of life and child development. I quickly discovered that in order to use my specialized skills to make a difference in as many aspects of the little’s lives as possible, I needed to get out of the highly regulated school setting. So, in the middle of a national pandemic and 8 months pregnant with my first baby, I decided to switch it up and take a job for a private practice an hour from home. WHAT A LEAP OF FAITH! As of now, that wild jump has made the biggest impact on my career.

Everyday I work, my niche becomes more clear. I have discovered a passion for treating infants, toddlers and children with a special interest in the relationship between play and speech and language development.  That realization led me here, Seeds of Hope, finally an opportunity in my local community! I have always dreamed of having my own private practice, but with a growing family and too many hobbies to count, I walked into Stacey’s practice (again 8 months pregnant!) with an idea: combining our closely related professions and our belief in the true power of play! I am so excited to begin offering play based speech therapy to children ages 18 months through the age of 18 at Seeds of Hope.

So, why choose Play Based Speech Therapy?!  Play is the language of children and using it to improve speech just works naturally! Play Based Therapy allows SLPs to meet the child where they’re at developmentally. Together the SLP and child create meaningful and motivating therapy experiences while naturally targeting specific speech and language skills. The combination of evidence-based practice approaches, intertwined with child-led activities creates FUN and promotes development.  Learn more about play based speech therapy by visiting my website or contacting Seeds of Hope!

Chris Lewis
Coach, Director of Men's Ministry

Hi! I’m Coach Chris. I have worked with many boys over the years on the football field, wrestling mat and on the water wakeboarding/skiing/surfing and many still call me coach to this day. My goal in coaching boys has always been to first teach them about life, and then teach them about the sport. As my boys are older now, I see my role changing from coaching
boys to coaching men and I am excited to join Seeds of Hope to launch their teen & men’s coaching ministry.
Professionally, I have spent most of my career as a Commercial Lender. I enjoy my work, have traveled extensively around the country, and closed many successful client relationships. Throughout my career I have been an influencer in the business world, but my desire has always been to influence in a deeper way. I have a missionary heart. I grew up on the mission field in Brazil and lived there for half my childhood. My life experience overseas influenced me in many ways. Probably the biggest way is that I learned how to love people, all people and appreciate their differences. This has helped me in my career and also as a coach. I see the value of every player and I also see the value of every man. A man’s role in their family is vital, but today’s world has tried to devalue us and our importance. We have been told to lay down and many men have stopped leading. My vision is to help men wake up, through coaching, so they can fulfill their leadership roles in their homes and communities.

I am not a therapist like all the other great ladies at Seeds of Hope, but I believe our community needs a men’s coaching ministry and I feel called to lead it. I want to teach men to lay down the things they need to- like strongholds and pride. More importantly, we need to rise up and lead our families with honor, find joy in our relationships again and courage to stand for our faith. At Seeds of Hope, I will be seeing men & older teens individually with the goal of walking together towards real life change. If you are ready to be put back into the game and you need a little coaching, make the first play and give me a call!

Kim Platchek, MA
Child & Family Therapist

My goal as a counselor is to encourage people to live the life they were called to live and walk in the truth of who they were created to be. I knew I wanted to be a counselor since I was a teenager because all my friends would always confide in me and ask for advice. I love listening to others and walking alongside them during the hard times of life. I attended Cairn University and received my Bachelor of Science in Social Work. I then went on to Missio Seminary to receive my Master of Arts in Counseling.

I have worked in an outpatient setting, wraparound therapy services, and mobile therapy. I also gained experience as an elementary school counselor, counseling students at a private university, and worked with human trafficking victims in their recovery. All of these opportunities helped me grow as a professional counselor and helped me greatly understand how to meet everyone I worked with right where they are.

I am excited and honored to join the team at Seeds of Hope! My goal in working with your child is to help them reach their full potential, grow in confidence, walk in truth, and help them understand God’s love!

When I am not counseling, I am spending time with my furbaby, my husband, and my 2 step kids. In my free time, I enjoy baking, doing crafty things, thrift shopping, visiting coffee shops and being outside with my family.

“
The peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable-- if anything is excellent or praiseworthy-- think on these things.” Philippians 4:7-8
